PIONEER OF THE KOREAN MUSICAL THEATRE INDUSTRY

CJ E&M's Performing Arts Business Department had its first foray into the musical theatre business by bringing the award-winning <Cats> to Korea in 2003.
Since then, it has produced over 300 theatrical productions including <Werther>, <Finding Mr. Destiny>, <Poongweolju> as well as others many of
which were successfully introduced to China, Japan, after its run in Korea. On Broadway and in the West End, CJ E&M has produced musicals such as
<Kinky Boots> (Tony Award, Olivier Award), <Side Show>, <The Bodyguard>, and <The Sound of Music> and is currently lead producing the Broadway
bound musical <August Rush>.

BROADWAY & WEST END

CJ E&M has produced Broadway and West End musicals <Kinky Boots> (Broadway, West End, US Tour, Korea, Australia), <Hughie> (Broadway), <Side Show> (Broadway), <Big Fish> (Broadway), <The Bodyguard> (West End, Korea, Australia), <Strictly Ballroom> (UK, Toronto), <Let It Be> (West End), <The Sound of Music>(UK Tour), <Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat> (West End, UK Tour), <The Woman in White> (Broadway, West End), <King Kong> (Melbourne) and <The Wind in the Willows> (UK, West End). In New York, CJ E&M is lead developing the Broadway bound musical <August Rush> and the West End bound stage version of the hit movie <Back to the Future> . In 2013 and in 2016, CJ E&M became the first Korean producer to receive both a Tony Award and an Olivier Award with <Kinky Boots>. In 2014, CJ E&M opened its New York office and became the third ever Asian producer to join the Broadway League, the official Broadway producers' trade association.
