Kinky Boots of CJ ENM Musicals

A viral meme that leads to sold-out shows Following “Mouse Lola,” Hong Lola’s video hits 5 million views!

The all-time legendary show musical KINKY BOOTS THE MUSICAL, which reached its 10th anniversary this year, is achieving sell-out records. CJ ENM has participated in the planning and development stage of KINKY BOOTS, and it has achieved significant accomplishments, such as winning six Tony Awards. It stays strong even after ten years, ranking first in the Domestic Musical Trend Index with a total audience count of over 500,000. Thanks to the tremendous buzz generated by the birthday cafés and mini-concerts to celebrate its 10th anniversary, it stirred the hearts of many musical fans, causing the “Kinky fever”.

Kinky Boots Parody of CJ ENM Musicals

I became interested in musicals thanks to short-form content and challenges!

“And like Shazam! And Bam!” Even if you haven’t watched the musical yet, you must've heard this through short-form content. It’s the video of “Mouse Lola,” which hit 7 million views. Comedian Lee Chang-ho’s addictive parody of the musical’s signature number, “Land of Lola," spread among people and became a meme.

Not to mention Mouse Lola’s “Land of Lola” performance, the exceptional lineup for this season’s Lola is drawing a lot of attention. There’s Kang Hong-seok’s version of “Hong Lola,” who makes us think if Lola were a real-life character, she’d look like this, and Seo Kyeong-su’s version of “Kyeong Lola,” who sets new records every season. It’s hard to decide on a version, so make sure to watch it more than once!

Gen Z’s Authentic Reaction

  • I’ve always found musicals a little difficult to get into, so I’ve never thought of going to see one, but after coming across Mouse Lola’s video and KINKY BOOTS, I changed my mind. I didn’t know musicals were so fun and exciting! I ended up looking up more original performance clips and even got myself a ticket to watch the show. I was deeply touched and impressed by the spectacular stage and impressive vocals and realized what musicals are all about.

  • At first, I just fell in love with Mouse Lola's charms and started looking up other versions of Lola performed by other musical actors. Now, I can’t end the day without watching a video of the song because I was captivated by Lola’s unique and intense energy that comes from her powerful voice. It especially helps when I feel down or insecure because it feels like the powerful Lola will lift me up instantly. I wish I had a friend like her in real life who’s confident and always stands up for me.

When the cast is at ease, the viewers are as well
Easily ranked first among all shows in the same time slot

The famous series Three Meals a Day, a long-time beloved show that took place across the country, has returned fresher and lighter as Three Meals a Day Light to mark its tenth anniversary. The first episode hit an average viewership rating of 11.7% and the highest of 14.2% in the metropolitan area, achieving the highest ratings among all shows across all channels in the same time slot, including over-the-air channels. Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin’s chemistry exploded when Lim Young-woong, the “viewership rating booster,” visited them. More special guests are expected to join them, adding anticipation to the show.

I liked the characters, who were so genuine even after ten years!

Even without a dopamine rush or a provocative setting, you’ll find yourself smiling as you watch the duo. It’s Chef Cha and “Mr. Real Sea,” the duo who’s been on the show for ten years now. The two seem like they’re far from being compatible in terms of style and personality, but when they bicker as they cook or clean, they remind us of an old couple.

Yoo Hai- jin from Three Meals A Day Light

In the first episode of Three Meals a Day Light, Cha Seung-won became angry when he found out that Yoo Hae-jin secretly added kimchi into the gochujang jjigae and looked like they were an actual middle-aged couple. It was heartwarming and fun to watch Yoo Hae-jin trying to make up for his mistake, handing Seung-won a cool glass of makgeolli as a way to apologize.

Gen Z’s Authentic Reaction

  • The duo of Three Meals a Day, Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin, is the secret to the show’s success. Even after ten years, they’re still fun to watch. It was so heartwarming to watch them bicker over trivial things, cook up a meal, and show moments that prove why they’re best friends. I hope to see them for a long time and maybe return with a special show to celebrate their 60th birthday. I hope Three Meals a Day will last forever!

  • My elderly relatives all live in big cities, so I couldn’t really relate to what it’s like to stay in the countryside and eat warm meals there. However, watching them wash vegetables in a large basin, make kimchi, and cook a simple yet warm meal made me feel nostalgic for some reason. Even though they’re always bickering, their peaceful daily lives made me want to live like that, too. It made me feel very relaxed!

Won the hearts of Gen X and Gen Z
#VarietyShowWithMomAndDad

When the Three Meals a Day series first started, it attracted much interest because it aligned with the rural life trend. But now, it’s important to note that it’s one of the very few entertainment shows that Gen Z can enjoy with their parents. Special guests like “Lim Young-woong” added freshness to the light, simple, and calming charms of Three Meals a Day, and it has become the number-one show to sit down and watch with Mom and Dad.

Jung Hae-in from Love Next Door of CJ ENM Drama

Synergy created by shifting between two extreme characters
Heading towards the 10 million viewer mark with buzz

Jung Hae-in stepped foot in his first-ever romance comedy role through the tvN drama Love Next Door. With enthusiastic support from Gen Z, it topped first in viewership ratings and recorded high buzz scores. In the movie I, the Executioner,  Jung Hae-in appears as a creepy villain, a starkly different character from the “Mr. Perfect” character he depicts in Love Next Door. Succeeding the fame of its prequel, which recorded 13M viewers, it’s continuing its journey towards the 10M milestone. It premiered globally at film festivals including the Cannes Festival, and tt even earned a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Uprightness VS Madness, Finding the Actor’s “Personal Color”

“Seung-hyo,” the textbook Mr. Right, who makes our hearts flutter with a perfect visual, is the rising star in the architecture scene in Korea. However, only one person can make him grumpy and flustered. That’s “Seok-ryu,” the daughter of his mother’s friend. Whenever Seung-hyo revealed his feelings for Seok-ryu the viewership rating skyrocketed.

Jung Hae-in from I, the Executioner of CJ ENM Movie

While Jung Hae-in melted the hearts of Gen Z in Love Next Door with his pure and innocent charms, he unleashed completely different charms in I, the Executioner. Officer Park Sun-woo, played by Jung Hae-in, is a complicated vigilante villain who shifts between good and evil, unlike the one-dimensional absolute evil and is getting reviews that he’s an unfamiliar yet intense character.

Gen Z’s Authentic Reaction

  • When I first started watching the show, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the cute couple. Then, I became more immersed as Seung-hyo, who has had a long-time crush on his friend, started to show his feelings. There’s a scene where Seung-hyo realizes that he’s had feelings for Seok-ryu and makes a subtle smile. I realized that this actor expresses emotions with his gaze. I understood why Jung Hae-in is famous for the way he acts with his eyes.

  • I loved the film Veteran, so I’ve been waiting for the sequel to be released. Jung Hae-in is known for his upright and diligent image, but he had pulled off genre films perfectly in his previous works, so my expectations were high when I heard he was cast as one of the main characters, and he happened to exceed my expectations. I heard he trained in martial arts and jiu-jitsu before shooting the film. I could tell his hard work paid off.

Living A Double Life: Choi Seung-hyo in the day, Park Sun-woo in the night

At the center of I, the Executioner, which received a standing ovation at the 77th Cannes Festival and is now sweeping the theaters, and the sweet and therapeutic romance comedy, Love Next Door, is Jung Hae-in. The two opposite characters are blowing our minds at the same time: the Mr. Perfect character, which maximizes his existing pure and innocent image, and the extreme character, which maximizes the unexpectedness through the “fighter villain.”
